Botox® is a purified protein injected into precise points on the face to control muscle reaction. When this medication is injected into muscles, it interrupts signals from nerves that cause muscles to contract. As treated muscles relax, surface skin responds accordingly.
What can I expect at my procedure?
During your visit Dr. Pepple will perform a comprehensive assessment and examination of the area of concern. She will advise on the amount of botulinum toxin required to treat the area.
A very fine needle is used for this treatment, so it is well tolerated by most patients. An injection session typically takes half an hour or less. Results begin to appear within a week, and last for about three to four months, depending on the area of the face and your personal traits. This treatment has been cleared for use in Canada for more than 14 years, with an excellent safety record and low risk of side effects.
